Flowbox enriches Dynamic Product Ads with UGC

We are constantly working on innovative solutions to make the Flowbox platform more intelligent and valuable for our clients. Flowbox is rapidly growing and we are continuously investing in new features and updates for a more accessible and optimized experience on our platform.

One of the innovative features that we have launched is UGC DPA. UGC DPA makes it possible to utilize User Generated Content (UGC) in Facebook dynamic product ads, for increased click-through rate and higher revenue.

This feature helps brands to allocate more of their marketing budget from creation to distribution, improving the ad performance by showcasing product-specific User Generated Content in Facebook Dynamic Product Ads. The feature enables brands to easily, quickly, and automatically enrich their product catalogs with authentic and inspirational content from customers and influencers, ready to be utilised in prospecting and retargeting campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook explains: “Dynamic ads look similar to other ads on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network. However, instead of individually creating an ad for each of your products, you create an ad template that automatically uses images and details from your data feed (product catalog) for things you’d like to advertise. Dynamic ads use your Facebook pixel to show ads to people who have already shown interest in your business by taking actions you care about on your site.”

We all know that content makes a difference. On websites, in blog posts, and in advertising. We want to create content that inspires, educates, and converts. Quality content requires investment in time, money, and resources. You need to plan, schedule, and hire a copywriter, photographer, and an agency that designs ads. But there is tons of content out there already created. Content that is cost-effective and most importantly, both inspires and converts.

Take a look at the two pictures below. Ask yourself, what do they tell you? What is the story here? And most importantly, which one is the most engaging?

The first thing to note here is that both of these images feature the same product, just in very different ways. Image B is an example of User Generated Content (UGC), content that has been created by end-users and that can be collected by brands to effectively use in their marketing. Image A is a standard white background product photo.

Image B shows the product being enjoyed by the end user. It allows you to visualize exactly how it will be used. Simply put, image B gives you a lot more information.

Flowbox will let our clients easily, quickly, and automatically exchange white background product images for inspiring and authentic User Generated Content.

So how does it work? It is super simple, let us explain. Flowbox collects content from social media into our platform where you can choose to send requests and gain rights to use your customers’ content across ads and tag the content with products. When you have access to the content you want to showcase in your ads, select the existing product feed that you want to modify, apply your desired rules and settings, and let Flowbox generate a feed filled with User Generated Content accordingly. It’s worth noting that the product feed can be as large or specific as you want – we just look for a match on the chosen product ID/identifier. After that, you just have to import the new feed into Facebook Commerce Manager and launch your campaign.

With personalised ads that are relevant to each prospect and customer, customers will sense the authenticity and find it more inspiring. You can keep your ads updated and fresh by automatically displaying the content most recently approved within Flowbox’s platform, or the highest-performing UGC on-site. All content settings are set directly in Flowbox, so it is easy to set up with low ongoing maintenance. Works across Facebook and Instagram. Remember, you can make more UGC DPA catalogs for different types of campaigns, i.e., prospecting/retargeting and/or region-specific catalogs.

We have seen great results from our clients using UGC DPA. One example is G-Star RAW which tested a combination of User Generated Content (UGC) and image templates in their Dynamic Product Ads (DPA), as opposed to the standard white background product images that they had previously used and saw greatly improved results.

Here are G-Star RAWs results in numbers:

  • 18% increase in conversion rate
  • 16% increase in return on ad spend
  • 14% increase in click-through rate
